Summer Break was not too long ago, and students are already looking forward to the next break! Between all the tests and homework, there are a few things getting us through the year, school events! From spirit weeks to Fear Fest, there’s no shortage of exciting events at John Fraser! I decided to go around the school and interview different students about which school event they are most looking forward to! The answers were very interesting!

Interviewee #1:  ‘Cricket’

I started off by asking Cricket’ what event they are most looking forward to, and they replied, “I am looking forward to the semi-formal cause imma show off my dance moves. I’ve been practicing the worm non-stop at home. I’m really good now”. I then asked ‘Cricket’ what his favourite part of the semi-formal is, he also replied, “THE DANCING!!! Also rizzing up everyone with my ultimate dance move, the worm!” I ended the interview by asking ‘Cricket’ what his favourite memory of the semi-formal was, to which he replied, “EATING LOTS OF FOOD!!!!” Safe to say that ‘Cricket’ was a very interesting soul.

Interviewee #2: ‘Mango’

I conducted interview #2 by asking ‘Mango’ what event they are looking forward to, which they answered shortly with, “Fear Fest.” I then asked, what their favourite part of the event is, which they replied, “The inflatables.” I tried to spark the conversation by then asking what ‘Mangos’ favourite memory of Fear Fest is, to which they replied, “I don't know.” They then brought in their friend to answer instead, where Mangos' friend answered, “I guess the food and friends and stuff.” ‘Mango’ and his friend had very short, concise answers to my questions.

Interviewee #3: ‘Apple’

I started off by asking ‘Apple’ what school event they are most looking forward to, then they replied, “I was looking forward to the club promo thing at lunch, but since it already happened, I don't know.” I then asked what their favourite part was of club-promo, to which they answered, “Discovering clubs I honestly didn’t know existed. I had a long list of clubs to join, but I forgot to submit my applications.” I decided to end the interview by asking what his favourite memory was for club-promo, to which he answered, “I can say anything right? Wait, what club are you interviewing me for again?” I then reminded ‘Apple’ that I'm with Fraser Post and to not say anything  inappropriate and keep it clean. After a few minutes he finally answered, “I guess seeing all the clubs and stuff.”

 Interviewee #4: ‘Trumpet’

I got straight to the point with ‘Trumpet’ because it was towards the end of the day. I asked ‘Trumpet’ what school event they are most looking forward to, to which they responded, “The winter concert.” I then asked what's the favourite part of the winter concert, to which they replied, “Because there are a lot of bands playing during a cold Christmas night.” I then ended the interview by asking what Trumpet's favourite memory of the winter concert is, to which they answered, “Probably being able to perform in front of my friends and family.”

Even though the answers are all different, one thing is clear: school activities can bring everyone together. These moments help create memories, and pride that go beyond the classroom and schoolwork. Whether it’s cheering, dancing, playing, or performing, students are ready to have some fun at JFSS!
