If you are looking for a chilling mystery that keeps you guessing until the end, I’ve just found the perfect movie for you! Directed by Rian Johnson, Knives Out is a movie filled with several unexpected twists and turns. Starring Daniel Craig, an actor who is known for his multiple roles as the well known detective James Bond. From the moment I started watching to the moment the credits started playing, I couldn’t stop watching, my eyes were glued to the screen and I absolutely HAD to know what would happen next.
The story starts with the death of a rich man, Harlan Thrombey. He is found with his throat slit open by his nurse, Marta Cabrera. After this discovery, the police department begins to investigate the scene. Did Thrombey commit suicide, or was this a plot to obtain his inheritance? Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) was given an anonymous payment to investigate this case. As the investigation continues, each member of the Thrombey family becomes a suspect, most of them hiding their own secrets. There were different points throughout this movie where I believed each and every one of the characters were guilty, even the detective.
I really enjoyed how more and more details were revealed throughout the movie. The plot was strong, and kept me interested for the whole movie. I truly felt as if I was there in the Thrombey mansion, watching the story unfold. I usually do not like to watch murder mystery movies as there are not enough twists and surprises as well as a strong plot line, however this movie has both. Another thing I liked about Knives Out is that the ending wasn’t forced. As I look back at the movie, I notice small details which lead me to figuring out what happens at the end. Overall, I think this movie deserves five stars and would recommend it to anyone who loves a good and clever mystery.
